PetPlant

The app that gives your plant a voice.

Connect a multi-sensor to your plant pot and begin tracking its health status to deliver the right care.

Overview

PetPlant was born as a personal project I did with a couple of friends when most of my plants were often dying. The basic principles of the app are that anyone could feel emotionally connected with their plant, like a virtual pet, and even small kids could use the app. There will be a sensor placed in the plant pot to collect information, and this will be interpreted by the app. Giving you recommendations based on the type of plant you have.

Problem

This are some of the pain points we found from our design thinking exercise:

  • People have problems understanding the different needs of their plants.
  • There is information on the internet but it can be overwhelming or not precise.
  • Beginners forget to water their plants.

Insights

  • We want people to see their plants as living beings and taking care of them as something fun.
  • If we reduce the uncertainty in a friendly way, plant owners will take better care of their plants.

App design

We wanted to tell a fun story about how the sensor is a totem that listens to the plant soul and shares it with the user trough the app. We wanted to make it a fun experience to use.
